You are invited to a community reception on Sunday, October 9, 1 p.m. at Whitefish City Beach to welcome Energy Corps public service members to Whitefish and Glacier National Park. The barbecue/potluck event will serve to introduce Rachel Sussman, who will be working for the City of Whitefish and the Whitefish School District beginning in October, and Alanna Wulf, who will serve at Glacier National Park.
Guests of honor also include 20 AmeriCorps members from across Montana who will be serving local communities and schools this year in support of regional food systems and clean energy projects. The service volunteers will be in Kalispell over the weekend to attend the annual statewide conference of the Alternative Energy Resource Organization (AERO), which has been building and empowering sustainable solutions in Montana since 1974.
The gathering is sponsored by Climate Smart Glacier Country, a new public-private partnership focused on community-based solutions to climate change challenges. Climate Smart partners include Glacier National Park, the City of Whitefish, Flathead Electric Coop, locals schools, businesses, non-profit organizations and individuals.
Please bring a dish to share and a lawn chair. In the case of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the City Armory. Updates will be posted here and on the Climate Smart Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/
